Mississippi is a state located in the South of the United State of America and is named after the mighty Mississippi River, which flows along its western boundary. It is entirely composed of lowlands with a humid subtropical climate.
Although the state is heavily forested, the cities are modern and full of life. Jackson, the largest city and state capital, is bustling with nightlife, theatres, museums and fine dining. The majority of farm-raised catfish consumed in the United State is produced here in Mississippi aquaculture farms. The largest pecan nursery in the world is in Lumberton and the world's largest cottonwood tree plantation is in Issaquena County.
